Schmelen Lutheran Church
Hostel

Support from Zion helps feed 78 children at the Hostel run by Schmelen Lutheran Church. Children live at the hostel while attending school in Bethanie. Some of the children are orphans. Other children's families live too far away to transport the children to school everyday.
Sewing Project

Women from Schmelen sew school uniforms,dresses and various other items for sale. Zion purchases the cloth for school uniforms. Profits are used to purchase cloth for other sewing items. Some profits are donated to Schmelen Lutheran. The project also trains young women to sew.
Bethanie Schools

Zion provides support to three schools in Bethanie and one in neighboring Kosis. Support provides children with paper, penciles and books. Around 750 students attend the four schools.
Schmelen Pre-School

Zion pays one half of the tuition and fees for families wanting their children to attend pre-school run by Schmelen Lutheran Church. Attendance increased from 23 to 40 students with Zion's support. Zion also supports the purchase of a snack each day for students.
Computers

In conjunction with Schoolnet Namibia; computer labs with internet and email were installed in both Bethanie Primary School and Schmelenville Junior Secondary School.
Zion Youth and Schmelen Youth

The youth of Zion and the youth of Schmelen exchange letters on a regular basis.
Other Zion Support

- Tuition for 5 students from Bethanie to attend Martin Luther High School
- Tuition for a student from Bethanie to attend Paulinum Seminary in Windhoek, Namibia.
